Peyote Critical has become very popular due to its combination of compact size, heavy yields, great taste and significant medical benefits.
Although Peyote Critical is very much an Indica dominant cannabis strain, the influence of Critical Kush tops up the THC content to an average of around 20%. Having said that the high is essentially a feeling of blissful, meditative calm, rather than a massive energy rush. The pain relief is everything you would expect from the headline THC figures. After the high, you will transition gently into a very deep and relaxing full-body stone,. This can make you very drowsy so it’s usually best to keep this strain for night-time use.
Fans of Peyote Critical tend to value it most as a treatment for mental and emotional conditions. Particularly stress and as an insomnia treatment. However it would also work perfectly well as a treatment for a wide range of chronic physical conditions.
One of the reasons Peyote Critical has become so popular is because it is a very compact marijuana plant that still produces very large yields. Indoors it has an average growing range of 1M to 1.3M. Outdoors it has an average growing range of 1.4M to 1.8M. Although, you do have to be prepared for the occasional marijuana plant to grow a bit taller, especially outdoors. Indoor yields can be up to 650g/m2 and outdoor yields up to 1Kg per marijuana plant.
Another piece of good news is that Peyote Critical is a very low-maintenance cannabis strain. Like the vast majority of marijuana varieties, it needs to be kept warm, dry and sunny to be happy. It is also pretty forgiving of beginner mistakes and it certainly has good resistance to diseases and pests. It is, however, important to note that this strain has really dense buds, which means they can easily fall prey to the dreaded mould. So make sure there is good air flow to keep them dry. It is impossible to overstate the importance of good ventilation if you plan to grow this strain.
When considering your ventilation requirements, remember that your plants will need space to grow outwards as well as upwards. They will stretch to more than double their initial size during the flowering stage, which is how they have the space to hold the extended colas which are typical of this strain.
You will also need to make sure that there is space for supports towards the latter end of the flowering stage. As the sheer weight of the bud means that branches are very susceptible to breaking.
Generally speaking, strains with big yields tend to need longer growing times in order to produce all that lovely bud. But Peyote Critical is actually fairly quick. It needs about 7 to 8 weeks of flowering time indoors and outdoors it will be ready to harvest in early- to mid-October.
The taste of Peyote Critical is definitely on the sweet side, in fact it’s about an equal balance of fruity sweetness (notes of mango and blueberry) and candy sweetness (often compared to bubble gum). There are also base notes of earth, (Kush) spices and the odd touch of vanilla. The aroma is often compared to a blend of sandalwood and sweet coffee, although there is also an earthiness to it.
Peyote Critical takes its name partly from the fact that it often produces stunning, dark purple plants. You’re not guaranteed to get the same level of purple/blue colouring with Peyote Critical as Peyote Purple, but you certainly have a decent fighting chance of getting some absolutely stunning bud. This strains buds will still have a generous sprinkling of THC crystals though, with beautiful red hairs and a delicious aroma that escapes when you break open a baggy.
